This 8-week program is designed for children, teens, and adults who want to explore Bharatanatyam and understand what formal training involves. It offers a thoughtful introduction to the art form while building the foundational skills needed for continued study. Currently we are offering two sessions - March 12th through April 30th (8 weeks) and May 7th through June 25th (8 weeks). Students develop posture, rhythm, coordination, and body awareness through focused conditioning and foundational technique. What You’ll Learn: 1. Body conditioning and alignment 2. Basic Bharatanatyam positions and stances 3. Tattadavus 1–5 (foundational rhythmic footwork) 4. Nattadavus 1–4 (expanded movement vocabulary) 5. Asamyuktha Hastas (single-hand gestures) 6. Rhythm, counts, and musical awareness Who This Is For: 1. Families and adults curious about Bharatanatyam 2. Beginners with no prior dance experience 3. Students exploring readiness for long-term training 4. Those seeking structured learning—not drop-in classes What to Expect This is a learning-focused program, not a performance course. Consistent attendance and home practice are expected. Progress is guided by clarity and readiness, not speed. At the end of the program, students will have a strong foundation and a clear understanding of next steps for continued training at Shree Academy.
